Send reminders from Klaviyo
Connect Klaviyo so it always knows each member's points, rewards and quests, then build a Klaviyo flow that reminds members about a reward they haven't picked up.
Domino never emails your members. Connect Klaviyo, and Domino keeps every member's Klaviyo profile up to date with what only Domino knows: their points, rank, finished quests and rewards waiting to be picked up. It also records what happens in your program, such as a reward earned, on their profile. Your Klaviyo flows decide who hears what, and Klaviyo sends it.
This guide builds the reminder a pizza club sends: "You earned a pizza and haven't picked it up yet."
Before you start
- A Klaviyo account, and someone who can sign in to it to grant Domino access.
- Your app asks members for marketing email consent. Domino sends only members who opted in, and matches them to Klaviyo by their verified email. See record consent from a checkbox.
Try it in Test, without Klaviyo
In Test, Klaviyo can run as a dry run: Domino works out everything it would send, and sends nothing.
- Open Integrations in Test. Open the Klaviyo card and choose Connect as dry run.
- Optionally fill in List ID, the Klaviyo list consenting members join, from the list's settings in Klaviyo. Without one, Klaviyo's own opt-in setting for your account applies.
- Have a test member sign in with an email, opt in, and finish a quest.
- In the Klaviyo panel, open Dry-run log. Within about a minute you see the profile update with the member's points, the email subscription, and an event for the finished quest.
Members who haven't opted in, or have no verified email, are left out and counted in the panel by reason. To send members who haven't opted in too, turn on Include members without consent: their profiles and events reach Klaviyo, and Domino never subscribes them.
Connect Klaviyo
- Open Integrations in Live. Open the Klaviyo card and choose Connect with Klaviyo.
- Fill in the settings, then sign in to Klaviyo and grant Domino access. Klaviyo sends you back to the Klaviyo panel, connected.
- Domino then sends every member who opted in to Klaviyo: their profile and their email subscription, dated when each one opted in. Past events are never replayed, so a quest finished last month doesn't set off a flow today.
Someone Klaviyo already has as unsubscribed stays unsubscribed: Domino never subscribes them again on the opt-in they gave before you connected, since that would undo their unsubscribe in Klaviyo. Their profile is still kept up to date. They're subscribed again only when they opt in again in your app.
To test against a real Klaviyo account first, connect a separate Klaviyo account in Test the same way; that ends the dry run there.
From then on, a member's profile follows their changes within about a minute. Opting in subscribes them; opting out unsubscribes them.
Build the reminder flow in Klaviyo
In Klaviyo, create a flow:
- Trigger: the metric Domino Reward Earned.
- Time delay: 24 hours.
- Conditional split: the profile property domino_unredeemed_rewards is greater than 0. Continue on the yes branch only.
- Email: "You earned a pizza and haven't picked it up yet."
The split reads the profile when the member reaches it, a day after the reward. A member who picked up their pizza in the meantime has domino_unredeemed_rewards back at 0 and gets nothing.
Klaviyo ignores events for addresses at example.com and test.com. Test the flow with real addresses you own.
What Klaviyo receives

domino_campaigns | The campaigns the member is in |
domino_user_id and external_id | Your app's ID for the member, when your app linked one |
| Klaviyo metric | When |
|---|---|
| Domino Quest Completed | A member finished a quest |
| Domino Reward Earned | A member earned a reward |

The Klaviyo reference lists every property, metric and setting.
Keep an eye on it
The Klaviyo card shows when Domino last synced, how many members it sent and how many it left out and why, and the latest errors with Klaviyo's answer.
- Resync sends every member's profile again, without past events, to fix anything that drifted.
- If sending keeps failing, after 10 failures in a row or a day of failures without one success, the card asks for attention with Klaviyo's latest answer. Domino keeps trying, and a resync fills the gap once Klaviyo answers again.
- If someone removes Domino's access in Klaviyo, the card asks you to Reconnect.
